We don’t settle for anything less than excellence.

Company History

Carter & Carter is a joint venture between Walter S. Carter and his son, Collin Carter. Established in 1990 as Charter Construction Management Company, LLC, the activities transitioned to Carter & Carter Construction, LLC, in September of 2006, when Walter Carter joined Collin to establish a privately held general contracting and construction management company. With a Texas Division and a Southeastern Division, the company specializes in mixed-used construction throughout the southeastern United States.

In 2006, Walter Carter and Collin Carter took over the management of Charter Construction Management Company, Inc., which was a division of The Charter Companies in Auburn, Alabama. Providing management of the construction division was part of an agreement with the owner of The Charter Companies to transition the activities of Charter Construction Management to Carter & Carter. The transition was completed in the first quarter of 2008 and Carter & Carter became the preferred builder of multi-family and mixed used developments for The Charter Companies.

CORE VALUES

In order to achieve predictable high quality, Carter & Carter employees follow a set of fundamental principles in their everyday work environment:

  • We believe that we are in this industry to make a great product.

  • We believe in the simple, not the complex.

  • We believe that we need to control the entire project from the primary design to the construction completion.

  • We participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution.

  • We believe in saying no to hundreds of projects so that we can really focus on the few that are truly important and meaningful to us.

  • We don’t settle for anything less than excellence, and we have the self-honesty to admit when we’re wrong and the courage to change.
